Ooty, The Queen of Hills
Based in the Nilgiris, surrounded by clouds and mist, Ooty or Ootakamund widely referred as the Queen of hills is a place one should visit atleast once in lifetime. Places to visit
Grab the tickets to Nilgiri mountain railway or well known as the Toy train and enjoy the scenic beauty all around the 46 km of ride. Have leisure time with your partner paddle boating in the Ooty lake, from the middle of it the forest around looks mesmerising. Visit the history while stopping by at the Fernhill Palace which was built in 1844. Go to the highest point in South India, the Doddabetta Peak standing at 8,606 feet. You can have a panoramic view of the vistas from the observatory situated up. Experience the Gothic style architecture with your better half which captivates most tourist at the St. Stephen’s Church, the painting of Last Supper and stained glass windows depicting Christs crucifixion are masterpieces.
On the slopes of nearby Elk Hill, the Rose Garden is home to over 2,000 varieties of roses. The Government Botanical Garden, created in the 19th century, features ferns, orchids and a prehistoric, fossilized tree.

One can also visit the Main bazaar located in the centre of town to shop for aesthetic paintings, Toda silver jewellery and other handicrafts that will catch your eyes.
